Paul George defends Russell Westbrook amid reports following trade

It did not take long for a report about Russell Westbrook and Paul George’s relationship in Oklahoma City to surface following the news of the trade between the Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers, which sends George to California to partner up with Kawhi Leonard.

“Discontent” was the word Shams Charania of The Athletic used to describe what had gone one between the two Oklahoma City superstars. Having already seen a partnership between Westbrook and Kevin Durant end, the idea of the Thunder guard experiencing issues with his superstar teammate doesn’t seem farfetched.

But George put all of the talk and speculation to rest on Twitter not long after the trade:

Additionally, Austin McBroom posted a video with George to Instagram soon after the deal was announced, and newest Clipper seemed very pleased.

Given George’s reaction and his comments on Twitter, this may have been a matter of the 2019 MVP and Defensive Player of the Year candidate simply wanting to return to his home state.
