Paul Gascoigne told Roy Keane 'I'm sleeping with your wife' during match

Paul Gascoigne has revealed how he tried to get into the head of Roy Keane when Spurs clashed with Nottingham Forest in the early 90s.

Gazza came up against a young Keane trying to make a name for himself and attempted to get under the Cork native's skin.

In the trailer for his appearance on Anything Goes With James English, Gascoigne said: “I remember Roy Keane once, I just used to talk to him all the time.

“I remember going down the tunnel and I said: ‘Roy, you reckon you’re the new kid on the block? Welcome to your worst nightmare.’

“We won one-nil but he said afterwards in the papers: ‘Thank god that game is over with, I’ve never been talked to so much in my life.’

“I used to say: ‘I’m sleeping with your wife.’”

Gazza previously defended Andy Goram after his former Rangers teammate revealed how Keane refused to speak to him after signing for Manchester United.

Goram said: "We just never spoke.

"We had nothing in common. His beliefs and my beliefs are a mile apart.

"I met all the players in the dressing room, Steve McClaren took me round.

"I knew most of them, the Nevilles and all that - I played cricket with their dad.

"It came to Roy Keane and you know, you shake hands.

"He just looked at me and I went 'there's no point is there?' and he went 'no'.

"And we never spoke for three months."

After the revelation, Gascoigne tweeted: "Played for the Gers against Celtic 11 times. Unbeaten in 11 games.

"Scored against the Celts a few times, man of the match twice, sent off once, missed a penalty, Andy Goram saved my a***.

"My dad is a catholic, I'm a protestant so my dad hates Andy and I love Andy.

"I love blue and green."
