Paul Gascoigne 'determined to return to Celebrity Island' after dislocated shoulder

Paul Gascoigne wants to return to Celebrity Island, reports say - despite needing to be airlifted to hospital.

The 53-year-old was taking part in Italian TV's L'Isola dei Famosi (translated as Celebrity Island), set in Honduras, when his attempt to win a spaghetti dinner during one of the trials saw him suffer a dislocated shoulder.

Gazza - who enjoys a great relationship with the Italian public thanks to his time playing for Lazio in Serie A - was choppered out for medical attention, but insists he's fine.

Now an Italian TV insider says he's determined to return to the show.

The source told The Sun that he's "determined to be back, but it's touch and go."

Meanwhile, Celebrity Island's co-host Massimiliano Rosolino said: "Everyone wants Paul to come back.

"He has been a phenomenon and everyone loves him."

Previously a source claimed Gazza was resting up while the medical team ran checks on him.

"It's such a shame as he was doing so well," they said.

Pictures of Gazza since emerged of him grabbing his shoulder as he emerged from the sea.

Actor Gilles Rocca, one of his co-stars, is said to have been their to comfort the footie legend and lead him off camera.

Massimiliano said at the time: "Paul is with the medics but the initial view is that he is not seriously hurt."

Gazza - who had been learning Italian in preparation for his stint - is a familiar face to the Italian public.

He played for Lazio between 1992 and 1995.

And during his telly stint, he's missed the birth of his first grandchild.

Son Mason, 31, has had a baby boy with his partner Jaimee Wyatt.

"Paul's been very excited about the thought of becoming a granddad and this news has come at just the right time for him," a source said.
