Paul Gascoigne 's Italian dream may already be over after dislocating his shoulder.

He could be forced to quit Italian reality seres Island of the Famous after a painful moment on the island on Saturday.

Football legend Gazza was taken to a medical centre for X-rays after injuring himself while playing a game which gave the contestants the chance to win a spaghetti dinner.

He had high hopes of winning the show because he enjoys a great relationship with the Italian public after his time playing in Serie A.

But according to reports his participation is now hanging by a thread.

The former England star has been loving the show – until now (Canale5)

A friend of the star told The Sun it's touch and go – and that the former Lazio player could have to withdraw.

The source said: "He's dislocated his shoulder. It's such a shame as he was doing so well.

"He's resting while the medical team check him out. The producers are very concerned.

"He may be pulled out. There are insurance issues as well for them to consider."

Much-loved Gazza is taking part in Italian reality show L'Isola dei Famosi - Celebrity Island - which is filmed on the island of Cayo Cochinos off the coast of Honduras.

He is said to have hurt his shoulder during a challenge and was treated by onsite medics before being whisked away to be seen by doctors.

Pictures now show Paul grabbing his shoulder and grimacing as he waded out of the sea.

Show host Ilary Blasi is believed to have noticed Paul looked like he'd hurt himself, saying: "What's happened to Paul, he looks in trouble?"

One of the other contestants, actor Gilles Rocca, is said to have gone over to the former sports star and comforted him before he was led away off camera.

It was later confirmed the star had been treated by the onsite medical team, with co-host Massimiliano Rosolino explaining: "Paul is with the medics but the initial view is that he is not seriously hurt."

Paul has even been studying Italian as he waited to fly out to take part.
