Paul Gascoigne challenges Snoop Dogg to boxing match on ITV Good Morning Britain after cruel jibe

Paul Gascoigne has challenged Snoop Dogg to a charity boxing match, after the rapper started a twitter beef with him out of nowhere.

Snoop caused outrage last week as he tweeted side-by-side images of Gazza when he was a young footballer and a more recent one with the heading "Alcohol abuse" on his Instagram account.

Underneath he posted side-by-side images of himself with the caption: "Marijuana Abuse."

Piers Morgan defended Gazza and slammed rapper Snoop. Today Paul appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak about the incident.

He said: "I was in Spain doing charity events and I thought I might get some decent press out of it.

"I got off the flight and my phone was going mental, I found out what had happened and now I'm famous in America.

"I expect grief off the English press but to get it from him was sad, I'm a fan of his as well. "

Trying to make light of the situation, he said: "I think we should have a charity boxing match now - cannabis v booze."

But he admitted the jibe really got him down, saying: "For him to attack someone like me was really bang out of order, I try to look at the funny side of that, but it got me down."

Piers agreed with Gazza and said: "I felt really angry, felt like it was a really cheap shot."

Paul said: "I thought why me? He must know who I am to do that."

Piers then asked Paul if he had a message for the England squad going out to play America in the World cup and he said: "Do it for Gazza girls."

*GMB continues at 6am on ITV tomorrow
