Paul Galvin finalises Wexford backroom team as Mattie Forde named as selector

Paul Galvin has finalised his backroom team in Wexford with Mattie Forde among his selectors.

Although it was flagged some weeks ago that Galvin was the choice to succeed Paul McLoughlin as the county’s senior football manager, he was officially ratified tonight with Forde, Shane Roche, Tadhg O’Donoghue and Eamon Sayers forming his backroom team.

Former Kerry star Galvin, now resident in Dublin, takes his first foray into management at this level after a glittering player career that saw him win three All-Irelands as well as being Footballer of the Year in 2009.

An All Star winner in 2004, Forde is one of Wexford’s finest ever footballers and it will be his second stint with the senior management team having served as a selector under David Power up to three years ago.

Meanwhile, Wexford’s Division Four rivals Limerick have reappointed Billy Lee as their senior football manager for a further two years.

Lee, who has already completed three seasons in the job and oversaw a shock win over Tipperary in this year’s Munster Championship, will retain the same backroom team of Brian Begley, Seamus O'Donnell, Sean Kiely and Adrian O'Brien.
