Paul Dummett reveals injury recovery regime despite training ground shutdown

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has spoken of his bid to get back to full fitness after a season ending injury picked up in January.

The Welsh international has a tendon problem and was aiming to return in time for next season.

Dummett, though, has been dealt the blow of the club’s training ground being shut down due to fears of infection cause by the outbreak of the coronavirus.

"At the moment I'm doing my rehab with the physio but as we can't use the training ground, I'm doing running through Jesmond Dene and making the most of what I can," he said.

Dummett was taken out of the squad to accommodate January signings and won’t be eligible for the delayed final third of this season, even though he could be fit by then.

Speaking to NUFC TV Dummett added:”It's a pretty important window for my rehabilitation because if I don't do the work required then I may have longer-term deficits.

"Other than that, in my spare time I'm mostly at home by myself, watching some TV or spending some time with my family, but trying to minimise that to reduce the risk of infection."
