Paul Dummett admits Newcastle United 'made mistakes' but will win survival bid

Paul Dummett says there is no reason to panic after Newcastle United’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.

The Welsh international and his defensive colleagues failed to keep the Gunners’ frontline at bay as Unai Emery’s side romped to their 10th win on the spin.

But Dummett hopes his side can pick themselves up in time for the weekend clash with Crystal Palace.

After the game, Dummett said: “That was really tough.

“They punished us when we made mistakes.

Rafa Benitez warns Newcastle United that up to £75million must be spent on strikers this summer

“Mistakes were made at the back, me included.

“At 1-0 you always have a chance. The longer the game goes on the more pressure there is on them.

“They killed the game when they got the second.

“Arsenal are a good team and they stopped us from [attacking].

“We’re still in a good position and there’s six games to go - and there’s winnable games.

“I think one more win does it.

“We have to keep on going and take each game as it comes.”
