Paul Burrell gushes over 'lovely and sweet' Helen Flanagan after I'm A Celebrity jungle bond

Paul Burrell has gushed over his friendship with Helen Flanagan ahead of the I'm A Celebrity... South Africa series premiere on Monday.

The former royal butler to Princess Diana grew close with Coronation Street star Helen during their time filming in South Africa. Gushing over his new friendship, the 64-year-old called the mother-of-three his "princess" as he detailed I'm A Celebrity secrets ahead of the brand new series.

Paul and Helen will be joined in the jungle by Carol Vorderman, Jordan Banjo, Shaun Ryder, Fatima Whitbread, Phil Tuffnel, Amir Khan, and Janice Dickinson. Gillian McKeith, Dean Gaffney, Joe Swash, Andy Whyment, and Georgia Toffolo are also rumoured to enter the jungle as late editions to the series.

Speaking to The Mirror ahead of his second stint in the jungle, Paul gushed over his newfound pal and said: "Helen was my princess, Helen is Princess Jasmine to me, even in my phone now she's Princess Jasmine because she's so lovely and sweet.

"And you wouldn't think she had three children."

This year's official line-up for I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! South Africa (ITV)

He continued: "Every day she'd wear a different coloured bikini with lots of jewels stuck to it. And I said to her, 'you know, you look like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin'."

Speaking about the infamous Bushtucker trials, Paul said: "I'm still rubbish at trials. Every time I went to the jungle clearing to do a trial I thought there's gonna be a snake, it is gonna be a snake.

"Ant and Dec, they're grinning, they are like spawns of the devil those two! They just stand there grinning at your misfortune. And you know that you're gonna come a cropper and they know what everybody's weaknesses are.

"And every time I appeared for a trial, they'd say to me, you might find something familiar about it. You won't be there alone. Really I should not be surprised!"
