Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell appeared on Lorraine on Friday where he spoke about the damning findings from a report into the BBC Panorama interview she took part in with Martin Bashir.
Princes William and Harry have both slammed the interview which Diana agreed to after her brother Earl Spencer was shown forged documents, as it was the catalyst for her divorce from Prince Charles and burned bridges with some of the Royal Family.
Paul said: "William was quite right, this Panorama interview and the association with Martin Bashir fuelled her fears and paranoia and isolation, she was failed by him, she trusted him.
"I drove him regularly from White City to Kensington Palace underneath a blanket in the back of my car, to meet with the Princess, to have chats, to have fun times,

"He was like a small child, excited in a sweet shop. He was all too happy to be there, but we didn't know at the time how duplicitous he was, and what he really wanted from the Princess.
"And I think it's very sad she went to her grave and never knew the real Martin Bashir. "
Lorraine asked Paul about the letter Diana wrote in which she said she had "no regrets" over the 1995 interview.

The letter read: “Martin Bashir did not show me any documents, nor give me any information that I was not previously aware of.
“I consented to the interview on Panorama without any undue pressure and have no regrets concerning the matter.”
Paul told Lorraine: "The letter was very interesting, wasn't it? The letter was written by the Princess, it's her hand.

"But it was an odd letter, saying she had not seen any documents and she had no regrets - It was as if it had been dictated to her."
He added: "It could be Martin Bashir's greatest asset now, that the Princess did write that letter.
"But, she put on it 'no regrets,' and that's not true, she told me that she did have one regret from the interview.
"She regretted speaking about James Hewitt because she worried how that would affect William and Harry."
