NSW captain Kurtis Patterson is eyeing his first century of the Sheffield Shield season, having weathered multiple rain delays and fired-up Victoria spearhead James Pattinson at a sodden SCG.
Wet weather meant lunch was called at 12.20pm AEDT on day four of the Shield match in Sydney, where the hosts hold a 103-run lead after reaching 3-141 in their second innings.
Patterson, who played two Tests in 2019 but was not invited to be part of the pre-Ashes boot camp in Queensland, is 68 not out.
The start of play on Tuesday was delayed because of rain.
Pattinson made up for lost time, removing Moises Henriques with the first ball of the day.
Henriques was undone on six, attempting to drive a teasing delivery he edged to wicketkeeper Sam Harper.
It was otherwise a wicket-less morning session, with Jason Sangha reaching 28 not out.
The clash is likely to peter out to a draw unless the visitors conjure a post-lunch collapse or Patterson makes a particularly aggressive declaration.
