PATTAYA - A taxi motorcyclist has alleged he was assaulted by foreign tourists after he informed them their parked motorcycles were blocking the way on Saturday night.

Sumet Kaeoduangsaeng, 51, sported a swollen cheek, a scraped eyebrow and a strained knee as he told reporters about the attack, near the Tree Town market and entertainment centre on soi Bua Khao about 10pm Saturday.

He said he had asked two foreign tourists to move their parked motorcycles because they blocked access to the road. In return, he was punched in the face.

When he followed the two tourists as they walked off, one of them jumped up on his back and punched him repeatedly in the face, he said. The other tourist also attacked him further along the road. Thai eyewitnesses intervened, ending the assault, Mr Sumet said.

Responders called to the scene tended to his injuries before taking him to Pattaya City Hospital. Mr Sumet said before leaving that he intended to file a complaint with police after receiving treatment.
