PATTAYA: A tourist from the United Arab Emirates has given a taxi driver US$300 (9,300 baht) in appreciation of her good deeds.
Netnapa Boonmena took Mohammed Sulaiman and his friend from a hotel in the seaside city to Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday on her Loma Pattaya Taxi Cooperative car.
Realising that she was not familiar with the route, Ms Netnapa asked the two passengers to switch to another cab and helped them move their luggage.
By the time the two reached the airport, Mr Sulaiman found his personal bag was missing and he contacted police at the airport and the taxi company in Pattaya for help.
Ms Netnapa said she found the backpack on the floor of the rear passenger section in her car and went to Pattaya police station with her colleagues to report the lost item.
Police and the driver open the bag and found his passport, a plane ticket, immigration document, US banknotes worth $3,100, 16 dirham banknotes and two iPhones. All are worth more than 200,000 baht.
Pattaya police contacted his colleagues at the airport and Mr Sulaiman rushed back to collect his bag at the police station.
He hugged the driver, thanked her for keeping his belonging and gave her $300 before returning to the airport.
