Dancing on Ice's Patsy Palmer takes nasty fall as viewers praise recovery but question scores

Patsy Palmer has found herself at the centre of a scoring row on Dancing on Ice, after she took a nasty fall during Sunday's show, but still scored higher than Michelle Heaton, with confused viewers hitting out at the judges.

Like Michelle, EastEnders icon Patsy was near the bottom of the leaderboard after her first skate, finishing just ahead of the Liberty X star. Both women were hoping to bounce back in style as Dancing on Ice staged its annual Musicals Week, with Michelle appearing early on to skate to All That Jazz from Chicago.

However, there was more disappointment for Michelle when she got just 20 out of 40. Patsy was second to last skate, as she and pro partner Matt Evers took to the rink to skate to Wicked anthem Defying Gravity. Things started off rather well for the pair, with a stag lift getting applause from the studio audience, but disaster struck as the song reached its crescendo, as Patsy stumbled and fell onto the ice, with Matt helping her up.

The performance ended on high, with Patsy soaring up over the ice as she emulated Elphaba in Wicked.

Thankfully, Patsy was alright and seemed pleased with her scores after what happened, with her ending up with a total of 20.5, higher than Mochelle.

And the fact that Patsy made such an obvious error, yet still finished above Michelle did not go down well with many viewers at home. Hitting out at the judges, one took to Twitter to blast: "So Michelle who didn’t fall, performed the song, understood the song and performance, was marked lower than Patsy. No hate to her, but there didn’t seem to be a connection to the song apart from being green and lifted up at the end."

Equally annoyed, a second tweeted: "OH BEHAVE! Patsy FELL OVER yet she got better marks than Michelle, who had more solo content than her and didn't fall over. JUSTICE FOR MICHELLE CAMPAIGN STARTS NOW."

A third reacted: "HOW DID THE F**K DID PATSY SCORE MORE THAN MICHELLE WHEN SHE FELL. Naaaaaaah these judges be stressing me."

There was a lot of support for Patsy though and, defending the judges scores, one fan responded: "Because despite the fall Patsy was steadier and better in transitions. Michelle was still unsteady and awkward during moves and transitions. Performance wise Michelle may have been slightly better but deffo not skating."
