Patson Daka, Isco and other stars linked with Arsenal since the summer transfer window closed

Arsenal enjoyed a productive summer transfer window in which six players joined the first-team squad on a permanent basis, alongside the return of Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.

However, it is likely that the club will consider freshening up their options in the January window should opportunities arise.

The midfield and attack are areas Arsenal could do with improving, with Mikel Arteta’s side having struggled for goals so far this season.

Here are six players Arsenal have been linked with since the last transfer window closed.

Houssem Aouar

The midfield star helped Lyon into the last four of last campaign’s Champions League semi-finals last term and was a rumoured target for Arsenal.

According to The Mirror, and cited by football.london, Arsenal were expected to rekindle their interest in Aouar in 2021.

Indeed, it has been widely suggested that the Frenchman remains the club’s No.1 priority as they seek a long-term partner for Thomas Partey.

According to L'Equipe, Aouar was disciplined for refusing to warm down with his Lyon teammates after a game against Angers earlier this month, meaning he sat out the recent meeting with Reims.

But the midfielder has spoken out about his future this week and ruled out a move in January, insisting that he will remain with the Ligue 1 club until next summer at least.

Aouar has had a mixed start to the current campaign. He played a starring role in a 4-1 triumph over Monaco with a goal and assist, but was sent off in the first half during a loss to Montpellier in September.

Arsenal will still be keeping tabs on Aouar, but a mid-season move is unlikely.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Szoboszlai has risen to prominence this season for his performances for Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League, alongside firing Hungary to the European Championship next summer.

Arsenal have already discussed the possibility of signing the playmaker according to a report in The Athletic, after football.london initially reported their interest in the summer of 2019.

The Austria-based star has a £22million release clause which is said to expire in the middle of next month, which makes him a particularly attractive option for a January move.

Patson Daka

Zambian striker Daka has already scored 12 goals in 11 appearances this season for Red Bull Salzburg, having netted 27 times last campaign.

A teammate of Szoboszlai, football.london understand both Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring Daka closely.

The Austrian club sold Erling Haaland last January, so the exit of another high-scoring striker in the winter window cannot be ruled out.

However, Arsenal may need to sell before they can buy, so a deal could depend on Alexandre Lacazette departing.

Odsonne Edouard

Edouard is another striker who Arsenal are keeping tabs on, as per a report by football.london.

The 22-year-old has netted eight goals this campaign despite Celtic’s struggles at home and in Europe.

Neil Lennon’s side have endured a torrid run of form and their imminent exit from the Europa League might force them to cash in on their prized asset in January.

Arsenal would no doubt love to add the youngster to their attacking options, having struggled for goals so far this term.

Omar Rekik

Arsenal have already agreed a deal to sign Hertha BSC defender Rekik in the summer, according to reports.

There has not yet been confirmation of that deal, which was originally reported in early October, and appears to have originally come from Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink.

The teenage defender would probably join up with Arsenal’s Under-23s, or he could be loaned back to Hertha Berlin or another club next season.

Isco

According to a report in Defensa Central, as cited by Sport Witness, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a loan move for Isco in January.

Isco is not wanted by Real Madrid and the Spanish giants look set to listen to offers.

The aforementioned report stated Madrid would prefer a permanent exit for the playmaker, who has now fallen to the periphery of Zinedine Zidane’s squad in the Spanish capital.

That could scupper Arsenal’s hopes of landing him at the start of 2021, although Madrid might be open to a loan move with an obligation to buy.
