Patson Daka absence explained as Liverpool transfer rumours continue

Zambia coach Milutin Sredojevic has provided an update on the future of reported Liverpool transfer target Patson Daka.

The Red Bull Salzburg striker has been linked with a move to Anfield, as well as Premier League outfit West Ham.

Reports over the past few days have suggested that the striker is close to joining Liverpool, becoming their second signing of the summer after Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

As claimed by Todofichajes over the weekend, Daka could become a Liverpool player “in the coming days”.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Salzburg this season, filling the shoes of Erling Haaland and scoring 34 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions.

Daka was omitted from the latest Zambia squad, and the manager says it’s because of the player sorting out his future.

Sredojevic is quoted by journalist Hugo Zoff that Daka is currently deciding what is best for his future, amid links with a move to Liverpool.

"Daka, Mwepu and Kangwa have to decide on their next future, and it is just fair that they can make a decision that is in the best interest of the country."
