Patryk Klimala's Celtic and Copenhagen transfer claim disputed as Danes issue stinging response

FC Copenhagen have shot down Patryk Klimala 's claims he chose to sign for Celtic rather than them.

The Polish hitman joined the Premiership champions last week and is eligible to play against Copenhagen when the teams meet for a Europa League last 32 showdown in February.

He insisted he chose the Hoops instead of the Danish club, a claim now disputed by Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken.

Solbakken is adamant he's never even heard of Klimala as the Danes released an official statement.

Solbakken said: "We were linked and apparently had negotiations with a striker I had never heard of.

"We are not in a financial position where we can afford to spend money like that anyway.

"It was reported we were outbid, but we weren't part of any bidding for him."

And FC Copenhagen stressed they had never been interested in Klimala.
They stated: "There were reports that we tried to buy Patryk Klimala.

"Normally, we do not comment on this, but in this case, FCK did not submit a bid to either club, the player or his agent."

Their stance contradicts Klimala's version of events.

He said: "It’s true there was a bid from Copenhagen on the table.

"But as soon as Celtic came in with their offer I wasn’t considering any of the other clubs. I’m looking forward to playing against Copenhagen in Europe now."
