Patryk Klimala Celtic exit confirmed as New York Red Bulls land outcast striker

Striker Patryk Klimala ’s move to New York Red Bulls has been competed.

The move – as revealed in Record Sport – will see Celtic receive £3.5m plus add-ons for the pacy Polish frontman.

The 22-year-old struggled for game time in his 14 month spell at Celtic Park finding the net just three times in 28 appearances.

The MLS side's head coach Gerhard Struber heaped praise on the player after his decision to leave the Scottish Premiership.

He said: “I’m very happy with Patryk’s decision to join us.

“At both the club and youth international level he has shown that he has high potential.

"He demonstrates a strong work ethic against the ball, which is very important to our style of play, and has very good instincts around the goal. His movement and ability in the final third give the team another weapon.”

Celtic had paid Jagiellonia Bialystok around £3.5m for the serivces of the striker.

However, despite Celtic's problems this season he failed to hold down a regular place in the squad.

Interim boss John Kennedy was full of praise for the striker ahead of his move Stateside: “Patryk is a terrific boy, he’s worked ever so hard. Even while he’s been here there have been lots of development around his know-how in games."
