Patriots WR Julian Edelman exits game with chest injury in Week 3

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman departed the team’s Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The Patriots ruled him questionable to return with a chest injury.

He left for the locker room after making a 3-yard reception in the second quarter. Two Jets defenders landed on Edelman as he went to the ground, and the Patriots receiver came up holding his ribs. He did not return to the sideline when the team took the field for the second half. When Edelman left the game, he was leading the team with seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.
