There are probably going to be a lot of championship trophies at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox’ Opening Day.
Not only will the Red Sox be celebrating their latest World Series trophy, but they will likely also have some Lombardi Trophies in the house. Sox owner Sam Kennedy explained that the defending Super Bowl champions will be take part in the Opening Day ceremony.
“We’ve invited the Patriots and we’re ecstatic they’re going to be there. It’s going to be a great day,” said Red Sox president Sam Kennedy on Thursday, via WBZ-TV. “We have an exciting day coming up on Tuesday. It has been a tough start to the season, but we’re going to celebrate Boston championships on Tuesday. We’ve had a great tradition of celebrating and recognizing Boston teams and their championships, so we’re excited to be celebrating two championships that took place.”
When the Patriots last partook in the celebration, they brought all their trophies onto the field.
The Red Sox will host their Opening Day at Fenway Park next Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays at 2:05.
