Punter returner Gunner Olszewski made for the perfect star in the New England Patriots’ 45-0 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. The Patriots special teams units were absolutely dominant — to the point where Olszewski looked impossible to tackle on punt returns.
He managed three returns for 145 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 38 yards and a touchdown. It was a stellar breakout game for the receiver and special teams standout. But, of course, that was hardly the only facet of special teams that the Patriots controlled. (More on that later.)
There were so many stars in this game, whether it was safety Devin McCourty for his field goal return touchdown or linebacker Chase Winovich for his interception or quarterback Cam Newton for his three touchdowns. That’s the nature of a 45-0 win — just about every player on the winning team looked good.
