Patriots: Tom Brady expresses support for new NFL CBA

NFLPA Executive director DeMaurice Smith wrote a letter about the thought process behind the new CBA on the night before its eventual aproval. Ballots to vote on the were sent to the players on March 5, and the players voted for approval on March 15.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady expressed support for Smith on Twitter by responding to his open letter. The new agreement includes two more teams in the playoffs for the 2020 season, an option for a regular season increase to 17 games beginning in 2021, and increases in salary. This includes performance-based pay and player revenue.

Additionally, the salary cap will also increase for the 2020 season. The amount will now be $196.2 million. It was passed by a 1,019-959 margin. Brady has still not decided where he will play football in 2020. More information regarding Brady’s future should be available later this week.
