The New England Patriots brought a different look to the offensive line during Wednesday’s practice. Trent Brown practiced in full pads without a helmet during the open portion of practice, and Isaiah Wynn took over his spot at left tackle, per Zack Cox of NESN.com.
Left tackle is Wynn’s natural position, and he played there for the first four years of his career. He only made the move to right tackle this season.
Brown’s return to the practice field is an encouraging one. He has been consistent for the organization, playing in every offensive snap over the course of nine games. New England will need to tame the New York Jets’ pass rush, and Brown could be key in doing that.
Wynn has struggled a bit this season. He was benched in the team’s overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers on October 3, and he was benched once again when the Patriots faced off against the Cleveland Browns later that month.
New England’s offensive line will need to play at a high level this Sunday against a Jets team that recorded six sacks against them in the first meeting this season.
It was a rough first half of that game for Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, and the hope is that the offensive front can stand its ground for a better outing in the upcoming rematch.
