Patriots sign DT Carl Davis in effort to add depth

The New England Patriots made a minor move on Wednesday signing Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Carl Davis. The Patriots signed him off of Jacksonville’s practice squad.

Davis’ best season came in 2017. That year, he recorded 19 tackles for Baltimore. He was a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens on of Iowa in 2015. He played for the Ravens for three seasons, starting in 12 games. An ankle injury caused him to miss the entire 2016 season.

This is a depth move as Byron Cowart is currently on the COVID reserve list. Beau Allen is still on injured reserve. So Davis will join defensive tackles Lawrence Guy and Adam Butler.

With the Denver Broncos scheduled for this Sunday, New England will need to be fully healthy as they look to bounce back from their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
