After a season of abysmal performances from the tight end position in New England, getting any production would seem like an upgrade.
The Patriots doubled down on their commitment to the position when they drafted both Dalton Keene of Virginia Tech and Devin Asiasi of UCLA in the third round of this year’s draft.
The former made an appearance in a training video with second-year fullback Jakob Johnson on social media. The post displayed Keene’s athleticism and impressive hands.
While it’s unclear exactly how the 21-year-old will be used in the Patriots’ offense, it’s evident that he has the ability to play a weapon in the passing game.
Keene may have competition for the starting spot with Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo returning from last season. However, Keene’s versatility and draft position should help him get plenty of opportunities in his rookie campaign.
