Patriots QB Tom Brady explains his feeling of 'gratitude' after Super Bowl loss to Eagles

Five days after his Super Bowl loss, Tom Brady was ready to open up about coming up short on the biggest stage against the Eagles.

The Patriots quarterback, who told reporters immediately after the loss that he wanted to "process it a bit," reflected on New England's "great season" and a feeling of "gratitude" in an Instagram post about "learning and growing."

"Gratitude toward my coaches for the effort and sacrifice they make to put us players in the best position to win. Gratitude to the NEP organization for supporting us on our very challenging and difficult journey. Gratitude to the Philadelphia Eagles team and organization for bringing out the best in us and being gracious winners (as well as congratulations on winning the championship)," Brady shared on Friday.

"Gratitude toward our fans who showed up every week to cheer us on and commit their time and energy and love and support to what our goals are. And gratitude to my family and friends who continue to love and support my dreams."

Brady, who has been to eight Super Bowls and won five, threw for 505 yards and three touchdowns with a fumble in an offense-heavy game. The signal-caller attempted one of his famous game-winning drives, but came up short on a failed Hail Mary against Philadelphia, which won its first Super Bowl with a 41-33 victory.

It was Nick Foles _ the Eagles backup quarterback who took over for the injured Carson Wentz during the regular season _ who was named Super Bowl MVP after the top two teams in each conference met Sunday night. He called for the game-changing "Philly Special" trick play on fourth-and-1 to give the Eagles a 22-12 lead at the half.
