Patriots’ QB Mac Jones receives enormous praise from throwing coach

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is receiving high praise from his throwing coach.

Tom House’s name may sound familiar, as he has also worked with Tom Brady. Now, he is working with a promising second-year player in Jones. The latter looks to have another strong season after turning heads last year by leading the Patriots to the playoffs for a second straight season.

Jones has been busy working out this offseason with several of his Patriots teammates. He has also shown a commitment to the weight room, as his slimmer physique has opened eyes. In the meantime, the quarterback’s progress has impressed House, as he told Phil A. Perry on the Next Pats Podcast.

“The sky is the limit with this young man,” House said. “Here’s a young man that’s just at the beginning of his skill acquisition window, which is age 19, 20 until age 34, 35.

“What I see with these elite guys, they try to get a little bit better every day. Not 20 percent better today. Like one percent, two percent. And that’s what you see when you work with and hang out with Mac. You’re looking at a young man that is trying to get better at something every stinking day. The result will be that, what was a question mark about how well will he throw down the line, it’s getting better every day because he’s working at it.”

New England will need Jones to play at a high level, as divisional opponents in the AFC East significantly improved in the offseason. In Week 1 alone, the Patriots will have their hands full with Miami Dolphins wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Jones’ development will be key if New England wants to have a successful season. At the very least, it seems like he’s put in the work this offseason in hopes of avoiding a sophomore slump.
