Patriots place LT Isaiah Wynn on injured reserve

The New England Patriots are placing tackle Isaiah Wynn on injured reserve on Tuesday, the team announced. Wynn, who has been the team’s starter at left tackle in 2019, left the Patriots’ Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins with a toe injury.

He missed all of the 2018 season with an Achilles injury after the Patriots drafted him in the first round of last year’s draft. He will spend at least the next eight weeks on injured reserve, but will be eligible to return to practice in six weeks and can play as soon as Week 12.

Wynn’s injury comes on the heels of center David Andrews’ season-ending illness of blood clots and tackle Marcus Cannon’s shoulder injury, which held him out of Week 2. The Patriots responded to their injury issues on the offensive line by trading for tackle Korey Cunningham and guard Jermaine Eluemunor before the 53-man roster cuts and then signing tackle Marshall Newhouse on Sept. 11 and offensive lineman Caleb Benenoch on Tuesday.
