The New England Patriots celebrated their Super Bowl LIII victory Thursday at team owner Robert Kraft’s home, where they received their outrageously large rings.
Quarterback Tom Brady is the only NFL player to have six Super Bowl rings, and he, Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski and Devin McCourty were among those who showed off all their Super Bowl rings as they received their most recent one. That’s a lot of diamonds.
But apparently, Jostens, the company that designed the ring, the Patriots’ ring this time is actually the largest Super Bowl ring ever.
Here are eight other crazy and fun things to know about this ridiculously large ring, via ESPN.
1. The rings have an average of 416 diamonds and six marquise-cut diamonds, totally 8.25 carats.
2. Each ring also has 20 sapphires, weighing in at 1.60 carats. They represent the Patriots’ 20 AFC East Division championships.
3. 76 diamonds are wrapped around the edges of the ring.
4. 38 diamonds surround the Patriots’ logo, which is also made from a custom-cut red and blue stone.
5. The star on the Patriots’ logo also features a diamond.
6. The six cuts of the Lombardi Trophy are made from 123 diamonds, and the trophies are surrounded by an additional 108 diamonds, representing the number of practices during the 2018 season.
7. The 13-3 score and the team’s “Still here” motto is featured on the right side of the ring.
8. The left side has each recipient’s name written above an image of Gillette Stadium’s lighthouse and bridge. The same area also has each player’s number encrusted in diamonds.
With all these features, no wonder the ring is so big.
