Patriots missing two key starters at practice on Wednesday

The good news is both wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and safety Kyle Dugger, both of whom are dealing with knee injuries, were present at the beginning of Wednesday’s practice.

However, the bad news is neither player participated in the actual practice, per the team’s official injury report.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Giardi, Meyers spent the day getting his knee checked out, and the tests came back as “nothing significant.” So it’ll likely be a day-by-day thing for the player who is by far the Patriots’ No. 1 receiving option.

As for Dugger, a video emerged of him going through light exercises early on the field. But he was also visibly limited in what he was able to do.

It would be a huge loss if the Patriots were without both Meyers and Dugger for their first home game of the season on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The offense is already going through growing pains, and the defense will have the headache of trying to defend against the human joystick, Lamar Jackson.
