Patriots’ Matthew Slater scores TD on a blocked punt vs. Bills

New England Patriots special teams ace Matthew Slater got a much-deserved touchdown during his team’s Week 4 game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Slater, a 12-year veteran, a Pro Bowler and a longstanding captain, scooped and scored after the blocked punt in the first quarter.

Cornerback J.C. Jackson managed to get two hands on Corey Bojorquez’s punt. That sent the ball flying backward, where it bounced into the arms of Slater. He returned the ball 11 yard to give the Patriots their second touchdown of the game.

Slater has returned kicks. He has also played a few snaps at receiver. And, of course, he’s one of the most dangerous kick and punt coverage players in the NFL. But he has never scored a touchdown.
