Patriots' Julian Edelman underwent shoulder procedure last week

Julian Edelman ended the 2019 season limping into the playoffs. He's started the 2020 offseason trying to get his body right.

According to ESPN, the Patriots wide receiver underwent a shoulder procedure last week. The report states Edelman's rehab won't be lengthy and he's expected to be ready for the Patriots offseason workout program in April.

It was a rough season for Edelman, who still finished with 100 receptions for a career-best 1,117 receiving yards and six touchdowns. According to the Boston Herald, Edelman will need multiple surgeries this offseason. The shoulder ailment stems from a separated AC joint in his left shoulder. The 33-year-old will also reportedly need a scope on his left knee "to identify and help remove a loose body." On top of all that, Edelman was also dealing with a rib injury.

All that is why Edelman was named the Patriots Ed Block Courage Award winner in 2019.

It's been an interesting offseason for Edelman as the receiver was arrested on Jan 11 in Southern California after allegedly jumping on the hood of someone's car, causing damage while out in Beverly Hills. He was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and released. He's schedule to appear at the Airport Courthouse on April 13.
