Patriots’ Jake Bailey named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

New England Patriots rookie punter Jake Bailey is already proving his worth.

He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after an outstanding performance in Week 3 against the New York Jets. Bailey finished the game with seven punts that averaged 44.3 yards, and five of them landed inside the 20-yard line.

The fifth-round draft pick was chosen despite the fact that New England had Ryan Allen on the roster — who was incredible in Super Bowl LIII. The addition of Bailey was a shock to many because Bill Belichick has a history of using left-footed punters and he kicks with his right.

Matthew Slater continued his special teams dominance and was a huge part of this accolade for Bailey.

The Patriots are clicking on all cylinders right now and their special teams play will become extremely important in order to chase Super Bowl No. 7.
