Patriots are cutting DE Adrian Clayborn after one season

The New England Patriots are cutting defensive end Adrian Clayborn, he announced on Friday on Twitter. Clayborn spent one season with the team after signing a two-year, $10 million during the 2018 offseason.

The move saves the Patriots $3.9 million in cap space.

Clayborn fell out of favor with the Patriots, getting benched during the final stretch of the season. He finished the year with 11 tackles and 2.5 sacks during 14 regular season games.

“Thank you @Patriots for my time with the organization,” Clayborn wrote on Twitter. “I gained so much respect for how you do things and win championships. It’s done the right way through hard work. Thank you for granting my release. I’m ready for this next chapter.”
