Patrick Vieira reveals who 'forced him out at Arsenal' in joke at reunion

Patrick Vieira is widely regarded to be one of Arsenal's all-time best players.

The World Cup winner was part of the legendary Gunners side that won the double back in 1996. Vieira also went on to lift the Premier League title on two more occasions as well as taste FA Cup glory three more times in north London.

The Frenchman would eventually leave Arsenal in 2005, signing for Juventus before later switching to Italian rivals Inter Milan.

Vieira's career concluded back in the Premier League, but this time at Manchester City.

Arsenal fans were disappointed to see Vieira leave, and it was reported at the time that Arsene Wenger's attempts to fit the new kid on the block - Cesc Fabregas - into his team came at the expense of the Frenchman not being played in his best position.

Vieira appeared to suggest this was most certainly the case when he bumped into Fabregas recently.

According to the Spaniard, Vieira made him laugh by cracking a joke about the situation in 2005 that lead to his transfer to Italy.

"I saw Patrick Vieira when we played against Nice with Monaco and it was very funny," Fabregas told Nice-Martin.

"I met him in the locker room, before the match, and he was with the president of Nice and he said to him while looking at me: 'President, this is the kid who forced me to leave Arsenal.'"
