Patrick van Aanholt breaks incredible 12-year run with winning goal vs Manchester United

Crystal Palace got their Premier League season up and running on Saturday.

And in some style too.

The Eagles opened the season with a draw and a defeat, failing to score in either of those matches.

Many supporters will have been expecting more of the same, heading to Old Trafford to play Manchester United on gameweek three.

But Roy Hodgson's men have left United with all three points thanks to an impressive performance.

Jordan Ayew gave the Eagles the lead in the first half and after Marcus Rashford missed a penalty for United, it looked like the three points were Palace's.

Daniel James had other ideas, levelling it up with fie minutes to go and while United fans would have expected their team to be the ones to kick on and win it, it was Palace who did just that.

And in doing so, the match-winner broke an incredible 12-year record.

Patrick van Aanholt is was who grabbed the winner, from a Wilfried Zaha assist, in the 90th minute.

And van Aanholt became the first player to score a 90th minute winner against Manchester United in the Premier League since Thierry Henry for Arsenal way back in 2007.
