Missing man Patrick Thaidy 'may be in Sydney': police

HE has been missing for more than two months, but police say they have received new information that could help them find Lake Macquarie man Patrick Thaidy.

The 60-year-old was last seen at his Delasala Drive home in Macquarie Hills on December 6.

Police and Mr Thaidy's family have made several appeals to find him, saying they hold grave concerns for his welfare.

Now, they are calling for renewed public help after new information that could prove the key to finding him came to light.

On Wednesday police said they had been told Mr Thaidy may be in the Redfern or Waterloo area in Sydney.

Mr Thaidy is described as of of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 175cm tall, with a medium build, short black hair, facial hair and brown eyes. He is not currently wearing his dentures, police said.

He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, light-grey tracksuit pants tucked into black socks, and white slides.

Mr Thaidy's children Jessie and Tyrone said in January they felt thankful and proud so many people wanted to help bring their father home after a community search rallied around the cause.

Ms Thaidy said anyone who knew her father "has got nothing bad to say about him".

"He was the man, he is the man," she said at the time.

"He doesn't deserve this. He's achieved a lot in his life, he's a good strong man, so I think he's still out there."

Family friend Julie Rose said they wanted to keep the search at the forefront of public thought.

"We need to bring him home, we want to keep this fresh in everyone's minds, we don't want it to go cold, we don't want people to forget. This is just the start of what we're going to keep doing."
