Patrick Roberts' Celtic return hopes dashed as winger 'set' for season-long Norwich switch

Patrick Roberts is on the verge of joining Norwich on a season-long loan deal - according to a report.

The 22-year-old is looking to jumpstart his career after a nightmare season with La Liga side Girona.

Roberts has been linked with a return to former team Celtic and the rumours intensified after he was spotted at the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday. But there has been no confirmation the Hoops are interested in a reunion.

The winger is in his final year of his deal with Manchester City and now looks set to spend it with Daniel Farke's newly-promoted Canaries. Norwich romped to the Championship title last season and are targeting an instant impact in the top-flight.

A City insider claims a deal is being thrashed out between the sides, reports the Sun.

Roberts was a smash-hit during his two-and-a-half-year loan stay in Glasgow and remains close friends with current Hoops star Kieran Tierney.

A move to Norwich could be a smart switch for the former England youth international with their progressive style of play.

Farke is adored by his players and his man-management skills have brought the best out in former Celtic misfit Teemu Pukki.
