Patrick Peterson suspended 6 games, including Week 3 matchup with Panthers

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has been suspended the first six games of the 2019 season by the NFL, according to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN. That includes his team’s Week 3 matchup with the Panthers.

With Peterson out of the lineup, Arizona’s depth at cornerback obviously takes a huge hit.

However, the Cards did use an early pick on one of this year’s top corner prospects, Washington’s Byron Murphy. He was one of several defensive backs the Panthers showed a lot of predraft interest in but did not pick. On the other side, Arizona will likely start former Falcons cornerback Robert Alford, who was released by Atlanta after a brutal 2018 season.

It will be interesting to see how Norv Turner chooses to go after Alford and Murphy with his receivers. This year’s top two targets at the position should be Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore.
