Patrick Peterson’s return means a roster cut and injury situation will determine who it is

The Arizona Cardinals will have to make a roster move this week to reinstate cornerback Patrick Peterson from being suspended. Someone will have to be cut but who that exactly will be is tricky because of the many injuries players have.

Because they were some of the most recent additions to the roster, the following players are likely to be the candidates to be released:

  • LB Ramik Wilson
  • WR Pharoh Cooper
  • S Chris Banjo
  • TE Darrell Daniels

All have been filling in for injured players. Wilson took over for Dennis Gardeck on special teams. Cooper is on the roster because of Christian Kirk’s injury. Banjo replaced Charles Washington. Daniels, although a tight end, has been playing Zeke Turner’s role on special teams.

Since Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t typically disclose much about injuries, whoever is released should give a clear picture as to who will be coming back, while those who stay on the roster suggest who might not be returning this week.

If Cooper is let go, that is a good sign for Christian Kirk’s return. If he isn’t let go, then Kirk probably won’t play against the New York Giants. If Wilson is cut, expect Gardeck back, and so forth.

The Cardinals will likely announce a move Wednesday.
