Patrick Peterson picked off Kyler Murray in first practice back with team

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson finally reported for voluntary organized team activities this week and, in his first practice of the offseason, had an interception.

Speaking to reporters after practice, Peterson called it “a welcome back gift.”

He intercepted No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, saying “he gift-wrapped it for me.”

It was the first time he had his helmet on since he played in the Pro Bowl in January.

Peterson hopes he can get more takeaways like he had in practice. He is excited about the new defensive scheme under coordinator Vance Joseph, calling it “aggressive.” He likes he will be able to put his hands on receivers and get in their faces.

He has not had more than three picks in a season since 2012. He gets few targets because opposing quarterbacks avoid throwing in his direction.
