Patrick Peterson apologizes for PED suspension

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson made a statement Thursday evening at his charity event, addressing his six-game suspension by the league under the policy for performance-enhancing substances and apologizing for it.

“I’m definitely, definitely sorry (for) what broke out today,” he said, via the team site. “I think you guys understand my character and also understand my commitment on and off the field and also to my teammates and also to the Arizona Cardinals organization,”

He indicated the situation is “very, very hard” on him. “I never wanted to have my name attached to something like this,” he said.

He thanks his family, teammates, coaches, community and the organization.

“I’m looking forward to getting back Week 7,” he said. “I’m going to try to keep that smile on my face and get back to being the best DB in the league.”

He was not happy it came out when it did and said he knew about the suspension “for months.” He is “relieved” that the information is out, although he expected it to be announced next week. He would have rather it not come out the same day as his charity event.

Despite reports that he has issues with the front office, Peterson also said his relationship with the team is “great.”
