When it comes to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, you rarely see his mobility pointed out as a weakness. He’s not a running quarterback, but he certainly *can* run.
You just wouldn’t know that from his 40 time.
Back during the 2017 NFL Combine, the former Texas Tech quarterback was clocked at an underwhelming 4.80 on the 40-yard dash. Not awful, but he does seem a lot faster during actual games.
Yet, he still lacks the speed of a 40-year-old Michael Vick, apparently.
Vick participated in Rich Eisen’s Run Rich Run charity event over the weekend, and he was clocked at a 4.72 40 at 40 years old. Vick was even upset about it! Imagine how Mahomes felt about that news …
Man he is still faster than me 🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/WT5dRuDXdi

When Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman evidently found out that Mahomes ran a 4.80 40, Mahomes responded with an excellent explanation. He just runs scared.
I be running scared in the game that is why i look so fast… https://t.co/H8PyE4fjDn

It all makes sense now:
Honestly, the NFL should find a way to measure player speed during the combine while being chased. That would be fun to see.
