Patrick Mahomes should maybe stop being in love with the no-look pass

This is partially our fault. Because we love Patrick Mahomes’ no-look throws. We write about them all the time. We write about them when other quarterbacks imitate them.

Because they are great. And they’re probably necessary, some of the time. If a safety is sitting back in a zone he’s going to be reading the QB’s eyes and there needs to be some deception.

But it can go too far. Like on this play in the first quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ game agains the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That’s Travis Kelce running toward the sideline, seemingly uncovered. Just throw it to him! Look right at him and throw it at him and dare anyone in the world to take it from him.

Mahomes has been perfect otherwise. For real. He’s 8-for-9 for 211 yards with 2 TDs in the first quarter as the Chiefs lead 17-7. Let’s dub him the insanely early favorite to keep his MVP award.
