Patrick Mahomes is digging Ryan Fitzpatrick’s no-look pass

Game recognize game. Patrick Mahomes’ ability to generate no-look passes was beginning to feel like an urban legend with how Chiefs defenders talked about them. And then Mahomes actually hit one in a game against the Baltimore Ravens late last year. And it was, in all honesty, even better than one’s imagination could have led them to believe.

But Mahomes’ success has inspired at least one other quarterback in the NFL to give it a go — Miami’s veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

Fitzpatrick’s deceitful no-looker yielded a toe-tapping touchdown from DeVante Parker at Miami’s final mini-camp practice of the offseason — and it now has the seal of approval of Mahomes.

The offseason always provides plenty of examples of the “brotherhood” of the NFL. Von Miller hosted an exclusive pass rush summit in Las Vegas last week to help pass rushers across the league hone their craft. A similar summit for offensive linemen was held last summer, entitled “OL Masterminds”. Seeing Mahomes provide a little love for Fitzpatrick borrowing a play out of his playbook is just the latest example.

When it’s time for kickoff, the competitive nature of football takes over. But in between? Football is an art — and there’s plenty of room for appreciating the works of art that others create.
