Patrick Mahomes’ injury could mean the Madden Curse has struck again

Oh no. Not again.

We all thought the Madden curse — in which cover athletes on the EA Sports title are doomed to suffer misfortune the year after they appear — might be somewhat quashed. Tom Brad laughed in the face of it in 2017 and emerged unscathed and won a Super Bowl last season.

But then we saw what happened with Antonio Brown’s frostbite. And now, Patrick Mahomes — who is on the cover of Madden 20 — has gone down with a knee injury, one that threatens to keep him out for an extended period of time.
