During the final training camp practice in St. Joseph, Missouri, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes teased that an announcement from his foundation was on the way. Now, through an official press release, his foundation has announced their inaugural charity gala. This is the first-ever event thrown by Mahomes’ foundation. Take a look:
“Today, reigning NFL MVP, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, announced his inaugural 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Gala, which will be held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 6:30PM. The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children through initiatives that focus on health, wellness, underserved communities and other charitable causes. Mahomes launched the foundation earlier this year.”
This is scheduled to take place on the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week during the upcoming season. It appears that they’re setting this up to be an annual occurrence in Kansas City. Here’s what Mahomes had to say about the event in the release:
“15 and the Mahomies looks forward to hosting the inaugural gala and building it for years to come,” Mahomes said. “I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to the Kansas City community that has given so much love and support to me, my family and all of Chiefs Kingdom.”
The gala will include dinner, a speech from Mahomes and a live auction benefiting the 15 and the Mahomies foundation. They also plan to recognize the work of charity organizations and community leaders during the event.
