Patrick Mahomes came *this close* to making one of the great TD throws in Super Bowl history

Patrick Mahomes is doing his best to keep the Kansas City Chiefs in this Super Bowl despite a battered offensive line and a big deficit to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

The man is doing everything he can — including throwing one of the greatest balls I’ve ever seen in Super Bowl history, a pass that should have resulted in one of the most iconic touchdowns ever … but it was dropped.

The throw came with the Chiefs trailing 31-9. It was fourth and nine, and with such a big deficit, Kansas City decided to go for it. For the umpteenth time in the game, the Chiefs offensive line couldn’t block anybody, and so Mahomes was forced to scramble like a maniac. Then, as he was scrambling, his feet got caught buy a Bucs defender.

So, as he was falling, Mahomes somehow managed to get off a throw … and throw a 30-yard dart which hit his receiver Darrel Williams in the facemask.

But Williams didn’t catch it.

I couldn’t believe it. No one could.

That’s a tough ball to Williams to catch of course, as the ball went through the hands of a Bucs defender. But at the same time — he’s gotta catch that. We were denied one of the great moments ever.
