Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat rack up 3 points apiece as the Blackhawks hold off the Maple Leafs 5-4

CHICAGO _ Patrick Kane scored two goals, rookie Kirby Dach notched the second goal of his career and Jonathan Toews added another to pace the Blackhawks to a 5-4 win against the Maple Leafs on Sunday night at the United Center.

Robin Lehner gave up three goals in the third and was briefly shaken up after taking a puck to the neck area while blocking a shot before Toronto's John Tavares scooped in a power-play goal from the left side. Lehner stayed in net.

The Hawks jumped on Leafs goaltender Michael Hutchison early, scoring four goals in the first period despite taking three penalties. Kane found the net 5 minutes and 18 seconds into the game, assisted by Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome.

Dach's goal was set up when Hutchinson deflected a shot by Calvin de Haan, and the puck glanced off Andrew Shaw's skate at the 12-minute mark. Ten seconds later, Kane backhanded a goal from the slot on another setup by DeBrincat and Strome.

DeBrincat also assisted on Toews' goal, tying the Leafs' Auston Matthews with three on the night.

But there was no bigger help for the Hawks than Drake Caggiula in the third period. He helped his team avert disaster by clearing the puck from in front of the net after Lehner was caught in a collision. He fed Toews, which led to a breakout. Toews ultimately passed to Brandon Saad for the Hawks' fifth goal.

It turns out the Hawks would need it as Andreas Johnsson scored with less than minute left in the game. Lehner ended up with 53 saves.

In a subplot, Toronto's William Nylander won a battle of the brothers _ on the scoresheet, anyway _ with the Hawks' Alex, scoring two goals.
