Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning about to be center stage again

MIAMI _ The NBA announced Wednesday the team representatives for Tuesday's draft lottery, with Miami Heat executive Alonzo Mourning hardly the lone post presence.

In addition to the former All-Star center representing the Heat on the stage in Chicago, the league confirmed that former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing, now coach at Georgetown, also will be a lottery representative, to be seated in front of the Knicks' logo.

Ewing and Mourning, longtime friends, were perhaps best known for their intense playoff battles when the Heat and Knicks met in the late '90s.

In addition, center Deandre Ayton, last year's No. 1 overall pick by the Phoenix Suns, will be the Suns' representative on stage, adding additional muscle to the proceedings.

It again will be an eclectic mix on stage representing the 14 participating non-playoff teams in the random-but-weighted drawing.

Among others on stage will be actress Jami Gertz (Atlanta Hawks), former championship power forward Horace Grant (Chicago Bulls), current Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma (Lakers), former NBA guard Elliot Perry (Memphis Grizzlies) and New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry and Charlotte Hornets coach James Borrego.

Heat general manager Andy Elisburg will be among the team executives who will be sequestered to monitor the actual drawing, with those on stage to react to the results.

The lottery is 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Chicago and will be televised by ESPN.
